SHARATHON Sends WCIF into 22nd
Year
I think we have it right now, spend the first day giving God the glory
for all He has already done. Give listeners the chance to tell how He has
met their need and focus their praise on Him. It's our nature to want to
surge ahead with the task at hand but a day of "rest" in the Lord is needed
in all our lives
I know it's important to the staff to be encouraged at this time. There are always questions, do we make an impact with what we are doing? The other aspect of our personal time with our listeners and their comments is that it helps others catch the vision of what God has been doing day after day within the community. His Word has been and is at work while we go about our normal routine. While we're in our normal mode, someone's life is being revamped as the Word works on his or her willingness. So a day of claiming the victory and catching the vision is appropriate! The following two days were equally as exciting. I am always impressed by the zeal of our volunteers. Once they come on the scene it would be difficult to be down. I know they represent every person who can or would like to help see that WCIF clears the goal. If they were not on the receiving end of the telephones they would surely be with you on the calling end, doing their part to make our twenty-second year a success. They represent you well. So how did we do? By the close of Sharathon 7 p.m. Wednesday we had received more in pledges than we ever had before. We had $25,000 over last year's finish and were within 4% of reaching the goal of $220,000! We are on our way! You need to know if you were unable to listen to the final two hours that in those last two hours God came through again. By 5pm we were where we had finished last year, at $185,000, $25,000 left to go. As you can imagine those were two exciting hours. You could feel the prayers and you could sense the momentum as the phones rang almost non-stop. By the end, nearly 970 listeners had responded and nearly $212,000 had been raised! Just as exciting was the fact that we are now able to send 212 "missionaries" to Africa! We committed to a partnership with HCJB to send fixed frequency radios to people who have never heard the Gospel! For each $1,000 pledged our radio council felt we should help others hear the Gospel in their own language and send one radio to be distributed by HCJB representatives. It's like an old slogan says, "your giving keeps on giving". God has given us a victory and with our commission to our 22nd year we once again make our own pledge to follow God's lead in programming for His glory and your encouragement and edification. Please pray for us and if you were not able to pledge during Sharathon remember our goal was based on a bare minimum budget. We can use your help all year long. May God bless you and those you come in contact with this year. Lee Martinez Back to Top of Newsletter SOUTH BREVARD HABITAT HOUSE DEDICATED On Sunday March 25th there was a ceremony commemorating a first in Brevard County. The sixtieth Habitat For Humanity home was dedicated. It was especially interesting because that home represented the financial efforts of a united Christian community. The funds for that home came in as over one hundred churches united to make it happen. We worked together! We helped a family move into safe affordable housing. It's always been our hope that we could be used of the Lord to bring the body of believers together since we have a natural means of doing so. It was our pastor Dr. Bazer who first shared the idea of giving our listeners the opportunity to see the need through Habitat. It finally happened in October of 2000. As a result, another family is in their own home. The house you've built is on Steele Street next to another Habitat home. It is very functional with a full front porch and a fenced in back yard. If you have the opportunity, drive by some time and see what can happen when generous people pool their resources to accomplish something good. This is the first in our efforts to work together and let the community see we care and put feet to our concerns. The plaque says, "thank you WCIF", but if you helped, put your name in there. We may start a wall of Christian community accomplishments and with your help fill it to the glory of our loving God. Back to Top of Newsletter
