    Lee Martinez
Lee Martinez For a number of years it has been my practice to log my phone calls. I make a brief description of my incoming and outgoing calls. I do this for a number of reasons.
For one thing my "forgetter" is getting better and what I write down can be reviewed. That has helped avoid misunderstandings and keeps track of how much time I spend on various projects. In this log I have price quotes and, when I feel it is necessary, exact comments which I made or someone made to me. For me it really does pay to keep a running record.

Just the other day I had to find something I had logged years ago. I went through three notebooks before I found it. I know I could have found it faster if I had entered it all on computer but I would have missed my etchings and other doodles which brought back memories from the moment. As I flipped pages and saw names of people and projects I began to realize that I was viewing the history of not only the station but of other ministries and people, some who are no longer in the area. I could watch the station develop through these pages and could see when a person or a piece of equipment was added to entrance the ministry. There was something wrong though. The log was cold and calculated. It had the landmarks but could say nothing of the tone or the personality of the station or our staff.

It made no reference to the condition our listeners found themselves in. From the memos there was no mention of those who had given their lives to Christ or committed themselves to their families and friends because they were now listening to and obeying God's Word. There was no reference to those who were relying on God's presence, as confirmed in the daily broadcasting, to carry them through a difficult situation. There was no account of those who depend on their Christian contact by means of radio to keep from being overcome by loneliness. You couldn't tell the attitude changes God's Word has made in a life.

Even though my business log wasn't marked in this manner, we know this has been happening because there is another written log of the history of WCIF. Our people write to us consistently. It is the only way we know we are having a valuable effect. One of the popular features of our newsletter is our letters from listeners. In there you realize what your support actually accomplishes. People change and are helped .

Your contact with the station is very important. There was a time in our Radio Council meetings when some were really struggling to see the impact of the station beyond the business mechanics. God's answer to help overcome that hurdle was to have us publish the letters so the tone of the work could be seen. People have shared their hearts in thanksgiving to the Lord for WCIF. Others have given constructive suggestions in this manner. Through the mail we can see that we are not alone and that there is a spiritual service being accomplished. God expects us to practice good business habits but go beyond the cut and dry methods. Through our staff, He has given WCIF a heart of flesh to speak for Him and minister to His people. The staff can see why they spend hours in front of a microphone and take care of the other matters which make up their shifts.

Your contact helps us continue to do what ministers to you and others. It also helps us strive to do even more. "Thanks for being there". We hear it all the time but to you we would say the same thing, "Thanks for being there".

    Letters

PALM BAY- God Bless all at WCIF. He is a sun and shield. He will give grace and glory and nothing good will He withhold from us if we walk upright. He is coming soon. I am looking to that day. Please pray for me, I am going through a little problem, but His grace is sufficient for me. May God Bless all we who continue in His will.

BAREFOOT BAY - Sadly, I must withdraw my contributions to WCIF. There has been a drop in my income, and I have had to make a decision as to who gets my offering. My church has to come first. I am a retiree and I know you will understand my hardship.

PALM BAY- Thanks for your wonderful radio programs and music. It's great being inspired while driving!

SEBASTIAN - I just returned from vacation and want you to know how much I missed you. It is good to be back and hear all the familiar voices and the peace I always feel from listening to Chuck Swindoll every morning and the program (New Dimensions) that follows brings peace thrum the music he always seems to know I need to hear. Thanks for such a wonderful source of peace and inspiration. We are praying for all of you as you continue to bless us each and every day.

MELBOURNE - Enclosed is my final pledge amount to help your ministry. I feel really happy sending this amount. I know it will be used in God's work. Music has always played an important part of my life from playing the piano at an early age to learning the organ later on, and also singing in my choir. Right now I do none of the above except sing hymns in my congregation at Oceanside Evangelical Free Church. But I am feeling the stirrings of wanting to sing for the congregation again. The songs I hear on your program encourage me to burst out in song and sing along - so much do I enjoy it. Your other ministering programs provide an equal balance to feed my spirit from God's Word. My greatest desire is to share my faith and to know my life can help someone who lives in darkness. God bless you richly in your ministry.

MELBOURNE - My name a year ago has changed because I have gotten married. I am very sorry for not sending in my pledge in 1996. Please use this for the wonderful work of God you provide for us. I ask for forgiveness for not being obedient. May God bless you all!

PALM BAY - Enclosed is the balance of our day sponsor pledge. When we pledged this year it was really a faith pledge because we both were retired. But God is good, He does provide. We are so thankful for a God who provides all our needs and for you folks at WCIF for your faith service to Him. God Bless you.
