  • FROM THE MANAGER
    Lee Martinez

The church wich started WCIF and with which we are still associated, First Baptist of Melbourne, is going through some exciting times. Many of you already know the church will be moving to their new facilities in about a year. Rigth now the new site is a cleared, graded lot at the corner of Florida Ave. and Dairy Road. We have artist concepts of the new building to help us visualize what the finished building will look like.

From the beginning, our studios have been part of the church complex. We have a great relationship with our church and have benefits most stations only receive when they become very large with overhead costs to match. Because we share facilities we have been able to share costs for major office equipment purchases such as a telephone system and copy machines. Our two staffs funtions as a family. We pray together, encourage one another and at times even help each other troubleshoot computer problems. radio can be a lonely ministry when the phones are silent and the announcer is the only staff person on hand. It's encouraging to see a smiling face just down the hall every now and then.

The vision which we have to build a new church complex is similar to the vision wich produced WCIF as a ministry of First Baptist. The need was there and so was the opportunity. When WCIF was only an idea and paperwork (before March 10, 1980). our congragation joined a minority of churches by setting their minds to bringing the Word of God to the entire community through radio. There were only a few churches wich had acted on that desire and we learned from those who had gone before and by our own experiences. I remember when I first considered the position as general manager, one of my first questios was what we were looking to gain from developing and expanding the station's influence. I was thrilled how the heart of those in charge was to minister as a stewardship. Our people realized God had given us something not for ourselves but by wich the entire community could be comforted, challenged, instructed and encouraged.

When I have the opportunity to speak on behalf of the station I am often asked to convey to our congragation how unselfish and gracious they have been to minister across denominational and theological lines. We have learned first hand that an interesting thing happens by focusing on the Lord Jesus; our differences have a way of fading and we can see each other in a new ligth and become a community.

As you might suspect I'm eager to move ahead with the church. Many have asked what the station will do when the church moves. Of course we will move as well. We have been in on the planning and design of our portion of the new building. We felt that we pay for our new space. When we learned of the costs involved we knew God would have to provide since it was far above what we had available.

Well, God did provide! WCIF has paid for our new studios to be located in the church office complex! Now we are praying for the founds to equip the new studios. Looking back a few years, I remember the financial challenges of increasing power and paying for new facilities seemed too much for what we felt we could expect from our listeners. That was on the physical side. On the spiritual side, we knew God wanted us to go ahead so we knew we were going to have to see God's power at work. we climbed a mountain and the view is great! God can do anything!

As you pray, please pray for WCIF. Our challenges may show up in the physical realm but we know they are spiritual because of the nature of our broadcast. We have a great and effective door open to us... Lee J. Martinez

COCOA - God bless you all. I am blessed to have you on all day in the engineering office where I work. Praise the Lord.

PALM BAY- It is a great pleasure to send my monthly pledge to WCIF. Your programs, saturated with the Gospel prove to me and many other listeners that when the dance of life confounds us and we are uncertain of the next steps, we must pause and remember that the choreography of our existence is divine and purposeful as He is in control of all our life's circumstances.

PALM BAY - Thanks for all the wonderful programs and the music. Keep up the good work. My husband now listens to WCIF. I never would have believed this would happen two years ago. Thanks and God bless you all.

PALM BAY - Please pray that God will provide the resources for our Faith Promise. Here is the first contribution. I love WCIF and listen all day.

PALM BAY - I just had to let you know how very thrilled I was to hear of your upcoming move to more spacious facilities and all paid for!!! God be praised !! During my brief period of volunteering for Shara-thon it was very obvious you are not "living it up" in your present quarters. Thanks for all the great programs, day and night. God bless you all.

MELBOURNE - I have been blessed by living in an area that has such a fine uplifting radio station. Dr. C. Swindoll has taught me many Biblical facts and has strengthened my faith immeasurably. God's blessings on your entire staff.

CHARLOTTE - Thank you for the bookleet you sent me. I had just completed a course given by my church here on sharing Jesus without fear. It has been very helpful. May God bless each of you as you continue to minister through other ways over WCIF.

MELBOURNE BEACH - I'm sorry I haven't been able to send my pledge. Things are crazy sometimes but God is so very faithful, praise Him! Thank you for all your service to Him: I must also say, as I've been visiting other areas of Florida no one has as good a station as you guys.

COCOA BEACH - Thank you for the newsletter and beatiful calendar. Sincere appreciation to all who operate and keep the station on the air. Many many people are comforted and inspired by your programs and music. God's blessing to each of you.

Because I want you to stay that way, I am enclosing my small contribution toward your music and Bible teachings are my favorites. Scott Terry, Cliff Lethbridge, and sometimes Lee Martinez, are my constant traveling companions morning and evening. May God bless all of you in the coming days.

SATELLITE BEACH - When we become discouraged about our country, the moral climate, etc., we turn on WCIF and rejoice. Where in this universe can you turn on the radio and hear God's word or His misic 24 hours a day?

MELBOURNE BEACH - We appreciate all of WCIF. It is so needed today. the music, children's programs, are rich nuggets of truth for for every age. We never get too old to enjoy God's people. thank you for your service to Him and to us listeners.

PALM BAY - I enjoy the wonderful, relaxing, uplifting music played by Scoot Terry on my way to work in the morning.

MELBOURNE - The recent boost in wattage has greatly improved the reception out here in Viera. We especially like the news and the music.

PALM BAY - Your Through-the-nigth broadcasting was such a blessing when I was hospitalized for two and a half months this past summer. The doctors and nurses couldn't get over my positive attitude and peace in spite of being desperately ill. my little borrowed walkman saved my sanity by bringing in WCIF.

MERRIT ISALND - Thank and God bless you for your minitry.

COCOA BEACH - WCIF is such a blessing to our community. not only reaching the lost but an encouragement to believers as well as helping us grow spiritually with all the excellent teachers.
