Christmas Greetings!

This year as I contemplate Christmas, I am overwhelmed with thankfulness in my heart that Christ came to save me. God sent His Son while I was yet a sinner, not only to come as a baby that first Christ- mas, but to share in the ups and downs of my life. I am impressed that He loves me that much. If I could give each listener to WCIF a gift, it would be to expose you to God's love in the form of Jesus. I hope each of you has a joyous holiday with family, friends and most of all Christ.
   Billie

My favorite snapshot from the Christmas story remains the angelic host
sharing with the shepherds about the news of Christ's birth. The shepherds went from being terrified initially to being so excited they dropped everything and beat feet to Bethlehem.  What an exciting time the shepherds must have had along the way, having just seen an angelic party! I have only recently learned in my studies that shepherding, at the time of the birth of Christ, was a despised profession. The shepherd was in fact considered to be the lowest of the low in the hierarchy of professions. I think it makes it all the more beautiful that God chose to send his angelic host to the lowest of the low when he could have chosen anyone He wanted, including kings and those in authority. Do you ever feel like the lowest of the low? Perhaps things haven't been going your way lately, or perhaps you have just suffered through a particular problem. Perhaps you feel like the upcoming Christmas holiday will be a time of loneliness and depression. Those feelings are more common than we think. But just remember, God chose to send angels to the lowest of the low.I'm sure the spirits of the shepherds were lifted tremendously. My prayer for you this Christmas is that the Christ of Christmas will shine in your heart anew, and may your spirit be lifted like the shepherds. Merry
Christmas!
   Cliff

I get so excited as Christmas nears.  I asked my wife the other day, "Are
we going to start putting up decora- tions today?"  It was two weeks before Thanksgiving.  My thought for 2002 is not to get  wrapped up in the secular world of Christmas.  I don't want to miss out on the lights, trees, presents, tv shows and all that good stuff, but while the baking,
decorating, and rushing is going on I want to remember Jesus and I want to focus more on Him this year, and less on me.  It is going to be a great
Christmas - I just have to remember  to put Jesus in the center of
it!  Merry Christmas!
   Scott Terry

It's beginning to feel like Christmas.  Here in Florida of course I'm
talking about a sense of good will rather than a surge of cool weather and a nip in the air.  I like the way people begin to anticipate Christmas with
loved ones.  They can't help but be in a better mood and those in their
path enjoy the warm glow of friendly greetings and a more tolerant
attitude. As usual I find myself wishing the attitude experienced at
Christmas would stay the same all year long.  If we could just experience more mercy and seek peace with each other as the Bible reminds us we should we could make each other's new year better.  So as we anticipate the Savior's birth and prepare to celebrate, here is my wish for you.  May you experience the Christmas Spirit all year long from everyone with whom you come in contact.  May others see Jesus in you and praise God that you have somehow crossed their paths this coming year.
  Lee

Christmas! - cookies, candy, turkey, family, friends, special music,
carolers, decorations,   there are lots of things we associate with
Christmas.  Christina Rossetti wrote the words to one of my favorite
Christmas hymns . .  What Can I give Him, poor as I am,  if I were a
shepherd I would bring a lamb.  If I were a wise man I would do my
part,  But what I have I give Him?  Give Him my heart.  As sinners a
perfect heart is not something we can create, yet it is hopefully something we desire.   What do we offer to the Christ Child at Christmas - a heart
pliable and moldable by the Master.  This Christmas and throughout the year I'm thankful to be able to share the Good News that Christ was born for you and me!

LETTERS FROM OUR LISTNERS

TITUSVILLE  - Bless all of you.  May you have a Blessed Thanksgiving.  We love you and so does Jesus Christ.

INDIALANTIC - Keep the excellent Christian programs coming through WCIF!  Enclosed is our check . .

MELBOURNE -Enclosed is my donation  . .  .  I  start my busy day by waking up to WCIF.  It is a great  way to start my morning meditation.  As I
travel to work I am blessed with the beautiful music that relaxes me and helps me to appreciate every day.  I am grateful to all of you and count my blessings for how you have enriched my life.  God Bless.

PALM BAY  - Here is just a small gift.  I am so blessed to have blessed friends that keep us with those special programs that keep us going every day.  Praise God for WCIF.  Listening to Unshackled it pierces your heart.  God Bless you all.

PALM BAY - I thank you for being there, I enjoy all your programs, as they are a blessing to me.  Please accept my small donation.

PALM BAY - I am listening to  WCIF every day, and I enjoy the programs very much.  Yesterday you had a beautiful melody on, played by David O'Neill on the trumpet.  I was wondering if I will be able to buy the tape or record in the stores, and if you kindly will let me know.  That tune has a special meaning for me.  My husband, when he was alive, always used to sing along when he heard it.  Thank you very much.

PALM BAY  - I have been out of town visiting my children and grandchildren for nearly a month and it was truly wonderful but something was missing!  You got it!  My Christian radio!  I hope I never have to be without it.  God Bless You All.

E-MAIL - Has the station every considered running the programming and music through your website?  This would enable people to hear the station throughout the country and world.  I travel frequently and in places like Southern California, there is only 1 Christian radio station.  We are so spoiled!  WCIF is such a great way to get my day started-from the morning music, to Chuck Swindoll to New Dimensions to Sounds of Majesty -programming is great!  I believe it is so important to be witnesses for Christ in the secular job world.  I cannot tell you how many times I have listened to a song, or heard a Swindoll message that was just what I needed to hear for that day.  Bathing myself in the Word as well as in Christian music makes me a better witness.  It is for this reason I posed the question about placing the programming on the website.  Thanks for your ministry.

Giving

Giving at the end of the year allows the Christian giver to express gratitude and love for the financial and spiritual blessings experienced during the year. The spiritual value of year-end giving is often overlooked, and yet is one of the most important factors in Christian stewardship.  Giving thanks to God for all He has done for us should motivate us to give all that we can. Proverbs 3:9(a)(NAS) says to "Honor the Lord from your wealth".

Here are some ways that you as a Christian may honor the Lord as you give your wealth.

Gifts of Cash
Charitable gifts are often made by cash or check. - If you itemize your deductions, gifts of cash may be deducted up to 50% of adjusted gross income.  - If you want to take a deduction on April 15 for this year's taxes, the gift must be completed by December 31.

Deductions may be taken in the year of the gift and may be spread over five more years.  Since tax rates are decreasing over the next several years, making a gift this year gives the best deduction.

Stock
Appreciated Stock -Give the Stock to the church and let the church sell it.  You by-pass capital gains taxes and you get a charitable deduction for the full value of the stock.  The stock must be owned by you for a year and a day.  Depreciated Stock- You sell the stock and give the proceeds to the church.  You may take a loss and take a charitable deduction for a cash gift of the proceeds.  NOTE:  If you own $10,000 in appreciated securities and have $10,000 in cash, you should give the $10,000 in appreciated stock to the church, then use the $10,000 cash to replace the stock given.  This gives you a stepped-up basis.

GIFTS OF REAL ESTATE
You Must Have owned property for one year and a day. - Your deduction is based on the fair market value of the real property.  You must obtain a qualified appraisal.  Your tax advantages are the same as for appreciated and depreciated stock.

Gifts of Life Insurance
You may assign your annual dividends to the church/WCIF.  You may use the
annual dividends to purchase a new policy for the church and make the church the irrevocable owner and beneficiary. - Give a paid-up policy that you already own.  You can deduct an amount equal to the approximate cash value up to 50% of adjusted gross income.  - Name the church as a primary or contingent beneficiary of a policy you already own.

Retirement Assets
If you are over 59 ½ and have tax-deferred retirement accounts, you  may wish to make withdrawals sufficient  to fund your charitable gift.  -   You will report the income on your tax return and take a corresponding deduction for your gift.

Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT)
A Charitable Remainder Trust provides substantial tax savings and provides an annual income to the donor.  If funded with appreciated assets, you may by-pass capital gains taxes and may increase your income when the asset is sold and reinvested to produce an income for the beneficiaries. Upon the death of all
beneficiaries, the remaining assets are distributed to the church.

Gift Annuity
A Gift Annuity allows a person to make a gift of cash or securities and retain the right to receive income from the gift.   - The payout rate is based upon the beneficiary's age(s).  You receive a tax deduction and a portion of the income is returned as tax-free principal.  If the annuity is funded with appreciated assets, capital gains may be deferred. At the death of the beneficiaries, the church receives the remaining principal.

NOTE:  Tax laws are subject to change.
