As we celebrate Christmas, this is the fifth time that I have had the
privilege of wishing all of our listeners a blessed time of the year. I
am thankful to God for allowing me to work, and to be a part of a team
that represents Christ and is concerned about getting out the message that
he came to live, die and rise again so that we might receive the greatest
gift of all, eternal life. Every time I hear the song "I Can Only Imagine,"
it sets my mind to thinking about that time when we will see Him face to
face. What an awesome gift! May our gifts to each other reflect that
sentiment.
A special holiday Greeting to all the WCIF Family. The listeners, staff
and all the pastors, youth ministers, teachers, Moms, Dads, students who
share the love of Jesus every day of the week. Families are
important. Being a part of a family is a part of being human. Whether
its gathering for fellowship at our local churches or getting together
at granny's for that holiday dinner. We like to be together with those
who care about us, who really love us beyond our faults. So who is
our family? We are all a part of an even greater world wide family of believers
all over the planet. I just received an E-mail from a brother I worked
with in Ecuador. We worked together on mission radio projects spreading
the Good news of Jesus in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, & Ecuador.
From my work in these coun- tries I have found My family extends to the
ends of the earth. Why not let God use you this holiday season and
all the year to be family to someone who needs one.
My wife and I love celebrating Jesus' birth. And we always say this
is going to be the best Christmas ever! We sure have enough decorations
to remind us of the season. We have so much Christmas stuff that we have
to keep it at my in laws house. My wife brought it all home the other day
and it was 7 super large Tupperware type of containers. I asked what in
the world was in those storage containers and she said, with a smile on
her face, " Christmas decorations!" She turns the house into something
between Santa's workshop and the birthplace of Jesus. She does a great
job and it takes her quite awhile to do it.
Living my life as a Christian single can make things a bit lonely during
the holiday season. It's always a challenge to keep my spirits up when
I live so far away from my family. That's why it is a true blessing
to me when friends go out of their way to make sure I am not alone for
the holidays. I am grateful to God for the John Anderson family who invites
me into their heart and home for Christmas Day.
An exciting season is here! It's a time for celebration and a
time to clarify our thinking. For a little while we can set the world
aside and focus our joy knowing there is more to life than what the world
has to offer! Listen to the significance of the second verse of the
prayer found in Psalm 20, "May He send you help from the sanctuary
and strengthen you out of Zion". Now that is going straight to the
top for assistance. During this special season as we celebrate Christ's
birth we are assured that the problems we face have been handled decisively.
Our sins are dealt with and our path leads home. Jesus has come!
Sleep in heavenly peace ... These words from a familiar carol have been
in my thoughts recently. In fact the desire for peace has surely echoed
in many hearts as the world offers anything but peace. Twice in the
past couple of weeks, I've heard the story of the King who held an
art competition to select the picture that most portrayed peace.
The winning artist showed a storm; however, in the midst of the storm was
a small bird, peacefully caring for its nest behind a waterfall.
"Seek peace and pursue it" (Ps. 34:14) the scripture says, and, "Thou
wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee". (Isaiah 26:3).
I n the prophecy about the coming Savior, Jesus is called our Prince of
Peace (Is. 9:6). Jesus tells us "In this world you will have
tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." (John
16:33). What a wonderful promise that we have through
the Prince of Peace. He is our answer. May God's heavenly peace reign
in your life this Christmas and throughout the year. Merry Christmas!
