'Tis the season to be jolly. But authorities are warning it is also the season to be cautious. Thieves are more active at this time of year. They want what you have and locking the doors as you leave doesn't always get the message across. |
Had a stranger attempted what family enjoys as a natural part of a day, they would have met with different results. Now I can invite someone to be our guest and when I do he shares in the warmth of our family. One of the first things we say to him is, "make your self at home". Implied in that invitation is a condition. The condition is that unless we have agreed to it earlier, there is a time limit. Privacy and practicality make that a must for all of us. We have only so much room. Besides if we really want to be comfortable we ditch our shoes as soon as possible. That would probably make most guests as uncomfor- table as it would us. Home is a place where you can be yourself and let your hair down. Home is a place where you belong and share all of its privileges.
There is a place. It's an indescribably wonderful place. If the door opens to you, you will immediately know you are Home. There will be unimaginable privileges. You will be with family and friends who have found their way before you. There are no strangers - only family members. There is no time limit to the hospitality, it is Home forever. It's the Home Jesus promised to those who love Him (John 14:1-4).
This Christmas as you celebrate Christ's birth, remember you were the reason He left His Home. He came to show you the way and make it possible for you to meet Him there.
I still have family and friends who need to make certain of their Home. You probably do as well. During this Christmas season we at WCIF do everything we can to present the real meaning of Christmas in such a way that no one can miss the message. But there are so many competing messages and a person can get so easily distracted that we need your help. Your invitation to listen to WCIF could be the means of someone finding the life changing truth this season. Tell your friends and family about us. We will provide an encouraging atmosphere bringing into focus Christmas as it should be. Listeners will be given the opportunity to meet the real Christ of Christmas. We will blend the old with new in such a way that there will be an appeal to everyone. We even have invitation cards we can send you to help keep the occasion on a person's mind. We have Christmas specials and beginning Saturday December 20th we will provide our listeners with a change in format which is designed to provide a total Christian Christmas atmosphere. We want to be of service to you and your family during this season. We want to provide you with an atmosphere that will remind everyone of home for Christmas!

Christmas Specials
December 13
The retail trade has rolled Thanksgiving, Hanukah, Christmas and New Year's Day into one helter-skelter spending spree and feeding frenzy known collectively as "The Holidays". The media, too, finds this a convenient "politically correct" phrase whereby they can avoid offending just about everyone. Well, I'm not ashamed to say that I'm celebrating Christmas. I began celebrating it in earnest at the age of 13. Earlier that year I had confessed my sin to God and acknowledged Jesus as the only person who could remove that stain on my life - past, present and future. I don't mind anyone wishing me a Happy Christmas. I hope you will be having a Happy Christmas, celebrating Jesus' birth because He is your Savior, too.
Valerie Strickland
A very Merry Christmas to all of our faithful listeners. Thank you for all the support and caring, loving- kindness you have shown me through letters, telephone calls and face to face visits. You have made me feel a part of your family in these past months.
Here's a short poem I wrote to remind us that Jesus needs to be the center of our Christmas Holiday:
The world says to look for something new; the greatest, grandest thing, the newest, the latest, as we seek to fulfill our desires and needs. The prophet Isaiah points us to a greater solution of One who has the Spirit of the Lord; a Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord. One who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, and His resting place shall be glorious (Isaiah 11:10). As we celebrate the birth of the One God sent to be our Redeemer, Jesus Christ, may you find security in your trust in His love and grace. May you be able to say this Christmas, The Lord is my strength and my song: He also has become my salvation.
Martha Root
A recent poll indicated a large percentage of Americans now believe the Christmas holiday is "too commercial". Perhaps some people have become curious about what may be termed the "religious" nature of Christmas.
How would you answer if someone asked you to describe the "religious" nature of Christmas? Perhaps a good start would be to offer a biblical definition of "religion". This is well stated in James 1:27, Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
I believe these essential elements of "religion" are particularly difficult to reflect in our consumer driven society. We spend so heavily on ourselves that we have nothing left over for those truly in need. As for being "spotted" by the worldly nature of Christmas, perhaps some would say they are being "bruised"!
Yes, it is often challenging to remember the Christ of Christmas, even in the midst of activities that we cherish and enjoy. It is my prayer that God will reveal His Purpose in your holiday, and that this will be the most "religious" Christmas of your life!

My Christmas started early this year as I have been reviewing new music for the season. Just mention Christmas or listen to Christmas music early and your frame of mind changes. You look forward to being busy helping make your loved ones happy.
With that in mind I hope you will be able to take advantage of all the special features WCIF will be presenting this year. We are here to be of service to you and your loved ones. You'll notice an increase in Christmas music as we get closer to December 25th. In fact the weekend before Christmas we will adjust our format to provide the type of Christmas you remember. It's a time when everyone in the community can listen and relive the years before "commercial Christmas". This is our gift to you and may we bring you a very Merry Christmas !
