The December Newsletter
![]() |
I love the Christmas season! It brings family a little closer and makes friends of strangers. There is just a great feeling of good will. I wait for the time we can switch to Christmas music and sometimes, when I'm on the air I'll slip in a Christmas song at other times of the year. |
This season on WCIF will be no exception, the music will draw us closer to the Lord and help us rejoice that we have God's perfect gift. You will notice one difference though. We are planning to give your friends and neighbors more attention and make it easier for them to hear the real meaning of Christmas. In cooperation with Moody Network we plan to make the last seven days (December 19-25) familiar to everyone who will listen in. Our entire day of programming will change. You may not hear your favorite program at the regular time because each hour will be focused on the Lord through music. The music is already selected and will include Christmas music which will bring back memories to you and your friends. Some of it is usually not heard on a Christian station , but it will all be tastefully done to honor the Lord in His season. During each hour, along with music there will be a short Christmas thought, more music and a very well done appeal to learn more about the Christ of Christmas. There will be a nationwide 800 number given and inquiries will be handled by sending information or direct counseling, whichever is appropriate.
When you realize this may be the last Christmas for some members of our community, the task of letting them see Christ becomes more important. You can help. Every local inquiry to the 800 number will be billed to WCIF. We would like you to be generous during this time, your gifts will take on even more significance this year. Secondly we would like to help you invite friends to listen. We have reminder cards available for you to hand out. We even have some on which you can write the person's name and the call letters of the station. We already have over 12,000 cards being distributed by local businesses including Chick-Fil-A in the Melbourne Square Mall. The cards are free to you and are designed to speak to the secular community about this Christmas event.
We want you to enjoy the music, celebrate the season and pray that God will reach some wayward children at this special time. Think of someone you can invite. Remember to be generous this month. Our expenses this month are higher than most month's and we have just added to that. We don't mind, it's for eternity.

Do the "Herald Angels" in any way remind you of the current fascination with angels? In recent weeks I've seen "angels" made from wood, fabric, styrofoam and crochet. They are dressed in everything from lame to denim, and one was fashioned from wire with a gingham dress and twigs for hair! angels adorn stationery and stamps, and dangle from ears and necks and it seems everyone wants to join the latest "collectible" craze.
The angels in the Bible brought Good News to Mary and to the shepherds. What they told was the Good News of Jesus Christ coming to be the Saviour of the world. When you see angels this Christmas I hope it will remind you of the "Good News" angels - their "News" is as fresh today as the 6 o'clock news will be tonight. Please share the angel's news with someone this Christmas.

A few weeks ago while the weather was still unseasonably hot, I was walking through downtown Melbourne. I was not in a good mood. I decided to visit the Christmas shop and after a few minutes inside, my bad mood melted away. That's what I like about Christmas. The message of Christmas can change anyone's heart and life. Not the reindeer Christmas tree ornaments or tinsel but the love and availability of Christ. I need to be reminded of Christ, very often. That's what I do at WCIF by means of radio keep people in touch with the Lord. Have a Merry Christmas.
Jack Fichter
My favorite element of the Christmas story is the angelic revelation of Christ's birth delivered to shepherds in the field. Did you know that shepherding was a despised profession at the time of Jesus? In fact, shepherds were considered ritually unclean under the prevailing Jewish law. What a wonderful illustration of the grace and love of God that He first chose to share the "Good News" with those who occupied the culture's lowest level.
How clean do you feel this year? Perhaps you have not had a great year, or perhaps you are troubled by some secret sin in your life. Celebrate with the angels this Christmas! God has already made you clean as new fallen snow through the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. "Glory to God in the highest! And on earth, peace, good will toward men!"
Cliff Lethbridge
Fear not little flock, it is the Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom - Fear not - we hear it from the angel to Joseph, from the angel to Mary - from the angels to the Shepherd, but also to us today -"Fear Not". God has sent a Savior - a ransom for our souls. Share that "Good News" with at least one person this Christmas. Fear not, but rejoice in so Great a Salvation Who came to earth as a babe at Christmas time.
Martha Root
It's easy to break a budget during this Christmas season. When you find that special gift that would be just right for that special someone price is almost no object. But you have to be practical, there has to be a limit if you don't want to regret your choices. We may have to place limits on our good will but not on the thought behind the present. We can say "I love you" and make the recipient feel the warmth of that love. God with His unlimited resources expressed His unlimited love by giving us the very best in our Saviour, His Son Jesus Christ. No need to look any further, everything we will ever need starts with Jesus Christ. May you have the very best and may you see the Lord in a special way this Christmas and know His love expressed in many ways this season.
