Reality Based -vs- Reality?

It's surprising how many people have been pulled in to the new entertainment fad called “reality based”. A new twist on this game shows up almost every month. Real people are put in improbable situations and
we watch them make choices and comments to live it out. It may be entertaining but there are some cautions we should be aware of. It turns out to be another way of introducing the audience to values
clarification. Values clarification games ask, “What if” questions and then give extreme cases designed to shake or shock your values. Many times the principles by which you live are subtly questioned and in the case of “reality based” games, likeable people can introduce different and possibly destructive alternatives. It is hard for me to watch the frequent attacks on human dignity that occur. What we need to remember is that if we are not careful we could end up accepting principles that are clearly not Biblical. And if your already heavily into value questioning you could be saying, “so what?”

The basic question comes down to one of truth? Is there more to man than animal instincts? Am I the only one affected by my choices? Is there someone who cares and gives grace to live by, with consequent rewards and reproofs? Am I accountable? The reality is that God has designed a
spiritual side to man which if ignored can only lead to frustration, guilt and wrong choices. Man tries to take charge with a little truth and a desire to do something even if it's wrong.

Reality deals with facts. One fact is that you can wait on the Lord who cares and has a plan for you. Values clarification deals with distracting questions. It assumes you are not happy with who and where you are in life and at least in your mind want to be somewhere else.

Each day WCIF deals with the spiritual reality that God is very interested in your life, your choices and your future. Through what we do God can reach you to inspire you, to encourage you even entertain you but it will always be done in truth and faith. Honest on target questions characterize our speakers’ messages. We want you to prosper and your life and choices to be full of spiritual victories.

I have been soaking up the reality of Ephesians 3.18,19 as I have seen God bring victory to the station through a very trying financial year. I had to learn again to enjoy REALITY the journey and not get bogged down. We are in His hands and can be certain that He always has the path plotted. See if maybe you need this assurance for the year ahead.

Praise and Prayer

"Reach out and experience the breadth? Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the Heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God. God can do anything, you know — far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, His Spirit deeply and gently within us."
Ephesians 3:18 & 19 The Message ©1993 by Eugene H. Peterson. Used by permission

This Could Be the Year!

In a few days we are going to ask you to help us step out on another challenging year of living by faith. The reality is that we need you to help us with your financial support and your promises to hold us up in prayer during the coming year. On March 8 - 10 we will have some very important programming that will have the attention of the communities we serve. Our annual SHARATHON will take place at that time. We are asking you to tune in and take part. We also ask you to think of your neighbors and what a difference there could be for them if sometime during the year at just the right time they were able to tune in and hear and focus on the truth. We want you and them to be able to reach out, rise up and live full lives beyond imagination! You can help make that possible. We need success so we can spread the victory.

Telephone volunteers for Sharathon are needed.  To volunteer call 725-9243. Training will be provided. Share 2 or 3 hours of your time with WCIF.

SHARATHON is scheduled for March 8, 9 & 10.  Please join us in prayer for this important event for the ministry of WCIF.  If you have a testimony about how WCIF has helped you - consider sharing it - Testimonies can be recorded by telephone.

A Surprise Ending
Remember the last time you watched your plans unravel and thought, Lord, what's going on here?! It happens to all of us. And it happened to our Wheels for the World team when they arrived in Poland to distribute wheelchairs and Bibles. Before the day had hardly started, their plans
were in shreds.....
The distribution area was tiny. Then, before our team had a chance to set up, they turned and saw streams of hopeful disabled people and their families pouring through the doors of the distribution site. Our team was caught off guard.
Right away, the Wheels leader gathered the team to pray. Proverbs 19:21 was on their minds, “Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.” Then they got to work. A tired father who had been carrying his five-year-old disabled boy finally reached the
head of the line. He'd been waiting for hours and was excited that it was now his son's turn. But when he lifted him into the pre-assigned wheelchair-it didn't fit!
Our physical therapist ran back to the storeroom, pushed aside several adult wheelchairs, and reached for a child-sized one. It was the only one there. She was dismayed to see how highly customized it was-it had trunk supports from its original owner and the blue leather backing had
“Jake” stitched across the middle.
When the family saw all the gizmos on it, they frowned. But the father lifted his son into the odd new chair. It fit perfectly! A circle of curious onlookers gathered around. “It's like it was made for him!” an interpreter exclaimed.
“By the way,” one Wheels team member asked the boy's mother, “what is your son's name?”
“Jakob,” she said matter-of-factly.
Yes, it was the perfect fit all the way down to the little boy's name. If you are struggling today with a plan-gone-haywire in your life, take heart from Jakob's story. Most of all, take comfort in Proverbs
19:21. The Lord's purpose always prevails. Just ask those happy parents in Poland!
