What does God use to get you to acknowledge and appreciate the everyday things that benefit you day by day? When you count your blessings? What do you include? |
God covers us with His favor and from time to time brings us face to face with some detail which shows our need for the things only He can provide. I remember a fishing trip which took us out into the Chesapeake Bay at sunset. If you ever need to feel small and vulnerable try a trip like this in a small open boat. In the dark I was very much aware of water on all sides. The shoreline, which seemed miles away, was very inviting. The motion of the boat was a reminder that there were other places we could be that were far more stable. I really didn't feel com- fortable until we were headed back to shore. Long before we were safe at the dock the boat slowed down and we turned parallel to the shore. Something was wrong. We weren't familiar with the landmarks at night and couldn't find the light which marked the entrance to quieter waters.
What if: the wind picks up and the sea gets rough; we hit something; we run out of gas and the tide carries us out to sea; some large thing in the water likes the taste of our boat? "Whose idea was this anyway?" looked harder and more carefully. The lights we could see seemed to make it more difficult to find what we were looking for. Finally we picked out the beam we were seek-ing. It became the absolute focus of our attention and we soon passed it and made safe harbor. Our confidence came back as we got our bearings and knew where we were. Life can sometimes be like a box of choco- lates, but it is always a little unstable and in need of guidance.
There is no existence without light. Light shows the way and lets us go on having missed the danger. Light allows us to go out in the dark with the confidence that it will pierce the darkness and make our path clear. God gave us light for both the physical and spiritual realms.
Those who have had the light shine in their spiritual lives understand why WCIF uses a lighthouse as our logo. We bring the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our community. We are empowered to do so by the Lord through His people. And in the past few months the Lord has given us an even brighter light in that He has allowed us to increase our range and reach more people.
Just before Christmas we received approval to go to 6,000 watts! That we have done. In early December we made application to increase our coverage by going to 25,000 watts. In record time we have been approved to go to 25,000 watts! I see this as an answer to many peoples, prayers as it will now give us the range to reach even into Orlando. Travelers along I-95 should now be able to keep our signal for nearly two hours of their journey. People in Titusville, Vero Beach and even Ft. Pierce who have been constantly appealing for a more usable signal will be able to join us in daily fellowship around the great teaching and music God has given us to proclaim. Just as importantly their friends and neighbors will have a place where they can come in out of the dark and learn what life is really all about.
As we approach our eighteenth anniversary, we have never been more aware of how much we need your help. Higher power means new and updated equipment. During our SHARATHON on March 9,10,11, we will be asking a great deal of our audience. We need to raise our budget for the next twelve months as well as pay the added expenses to increase power within the next two to three months. That is how soon we plan to move on this opportunity. People need the rescuing light of the Gospel at the earliest possible moment. Please pray as we plan and compile information to see what this will all cost. We will be as frugal as we possibly can and still produce a professional sound worth hearing. Ask God to give you a willingness to allow His work to move forward in this area by making a generous commitment to the finances this project will take. For many this will be a first time gift, but isn't this the right time to get involved, when it will mean so much to so many? Maybe this is the right place for that large gift you were intending to give to the Lord if He would show you the need.
Each year before SHARATHON we ask people to join us in recognizing our need for God's blessing by praying with us and for us. Please give us some of your prayer attention and ask those in your congregation to help us as well. A praying church changes things. I see the beginning of a great year. Our staff is up to the task if you will stand with us.

PALM BAY I am moving so I'm writing to let you know you don't need to send a newsletter any more. Although, I will really miss you! I proudly display my bumper sticker. Thank you. Wish I could send you money but I have none to send. Your station is the best; one of the things I,ll miss the most about Florida.
PALM BAY Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not His benefits. He is our sun and shield. He will give us grace and glory and nothing good will He withhold from us again. We are blessed to see another new year and I am praying for this wide world and for us here in Florida that God will bring a special revival to our souls, also for WCIF and its entire staff. Continue to spread the Word that all men will know our Savior is coming soon. I am also looking forward to the coming Sharathon so again I say God Bless all at WCIF.
PALM BAY I continue to thank God for WCIF being there day and night. What a wonder- ful season of music and good messages.
MERRITT ISLAND Thank you for your wonderful gift of music during this Christmas Season. We are also glad you didn't abruptly cut it off during the evening of Christmas Day. That is always such a let down. En- closed find an extra gift for the radio ministry.
MELBOURNE Have not been able to support you as much as I used to do but want you to know how much I depend on and appreciate your station. I guess like most believers in our area our car and home radios are set on WCIF. Your station has been a great blessing to me down through the years. May you continue to meet the needs of many people.
MELBOURNE Just a note to thank you for the calendar, also for the wonderful musical presentation throughout the holiday season. It has been such a blessing to hear while I prepared dinner for all my family and to listen to daily. It's a joy to be just a little part of bringing this wonderful station to this area. I just wish I could do more. May God richly bless you as you bring His wonderful message to all who listen.
MELBOURNE For the #1 station in Melbourne.
PALM BAY I have been living in Palm Bay for three years. I found your station about a week after moving here. I listen every day and it has been a special blessing in my life. I enclose a small donation. I pray that you will continue to serve this community with God's Word, wonderful songs and just praising God. Thanks for all the hard work that is put into running this station. May God continue to bless you all.
MELBOURNE I want you to know that we have greatly enjoyed all the music and many programs that you have broadcast over WCIF during the holidays. We also thank you for the helpful 1998 calendar. My radio dial is permanently set at 106.3 FM enabling us to hear all our favorite programs. Even my alarm is set at your station - a great awakening! Yes, you give us much enjoyment. God bless everyone at WCIF.
COCOA Please accept this gift of money. I try to send you something every once in a while because your Christian Radio means so much to me and maybe through this gift someone else may come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. I would ask one favor of your prayer staff. My husband is presently in the hospital . . . Please pray for both of us that we may always seek God's Holy Will regardless of what this life is dishing out to us at this time.
ALLENTOWN, PA Thank you for your beautiful, inspirational calendar I received today. I appreciate it very much. In honor of my almost 90-year-old mother I happily send a check to WCIF for your radio ministry each year. My mother is a faithful listener to your programs.
MELBOURNE Since I discovered your radio ministry I feel that I'm making better use of my time when I'm in my car or doing housechores because I can listen to your station at the same time. Listening to the different programs and music has helped me a lot in my spiritual growth. It seems that the Lord uses different programs or music every day to speak to me, and for that I'm very grateful because it has made a very positive difference in my life. I'm enclosing a small donation so that you can continue to reach and touch other people for God's glory. May God bless the work all of you do.
E-MAIL Many thanks for your letter regarding the increase in your power. I will try your station and look forward to hearing it again. When you can increase it even more, I'm sure there will be many others who will enjoy your station and its programming. Again, many thanks for letting me know this good news.
MELBOURNE You are my companion and blessing every day. You fill a real need. Thanks so much for the calendar. I will continue to pray for you.
