  • FROM THE MANAGER
    Lee Martinez

What,s orange with speckles or pink with red spots? How about white with yellow spots or tan with brown spots? The answer is gourmet jelly beans and each color represents the flavor of the bean. The package I received had at least 20 flavors in it. Besides being more expensive than regular jelly beans the flavors are surprisingly pleasant.

There is a "what you see is what you get", guide on the package. Expect the orange with speckles to taste like peach. It does. The pink with red spots tastes like pink grapefruit. And it doesn,t matter if you have the guide or not the flavors are true to life. Or are they? Plop a white with yellow bean in your mouth and your mind alerts you that something is not quite right. The texture says candy, the taste says buttered popcorn.

In reality you can be fooled by the artificial if you are not careful. In fact synthesizing the natural is lifework to many. There are people who work to fool your senses telling you it,s better for you or the environment or it,s just plain fun. It happens at the theme parks, in computer software, in most forms of advertising and in the development of fashion and food products. Your cheese may not be cheese. How are you supposed to know? In this complex world as man uses science more and more to his advantage, you are not supposed to know. Whatever the reason, what you see may not be what you get. Something happens when you accept the look-alike. You are not sure there is still a healthy benefit from what you are offered but maybe it will do. There are questions about what you can really trust. You may even begin to lose faith in one area which makes it easier to do so in others.

Is there any question that today we are being offered artificial peace and security? Among others, science and governments ask, "who needs God when we have the advances of today and the hopes of tomorrow?" They question if God is sufficient and wise enough for our future. It has the same sound as the question Satan asked Eve, "Did God say....?" And we who are supposed to live by the solid strength of our God begin to doubt and thus put our faith in jeopardy. God,s rules always tell us to never doubt. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him , and He shall direct your paths...(Proverbs 3:5-6). ..for whatever is not from faith is sin. (Romans 14:23).

God naturally gives us all we need for today and into the future. His simple and strong statement is this, Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. (Psalm 34:8-9)

Taste and see. What you see is what you get. He is solid and sufficient and holds you and the future in His hand.

Here at WCIF it is our commitment to help you stay focused on what is real. We want God to speak from the pages of His Word in such a way that you hear only from Him. We want you to know through our consistency that you can trust the messenger as you do the message. Keep your focus and your faith on the Lord. I guess it,s all right to expect the taste of burnt marshmallow from a tan with brown spot jelly bean but in real life God can satisfy you with all good things directly from His natural, plentiful resources.

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking, 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby: 3 If so be you have tasted that the Lord is gracious (1 Peter 2:1-3). Lee J. Martinez ________

KANSAS CITY - I enjoy your newsletter and hope this small gift will helps with your costs. Here in the Kansas City area are great radio stations, that serve God and feed His sheep. Thanks again for the newsletter.

INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH - Thank you all for your part in making WCIF what it is and for the blessings I receive everyday as a result of your faithfulness. God bless, you are my #1 station. I enjoy all of your great variety of programming.

PALM BAY - Dear WCIF, Thank you all for this beautiful Christian station it is really a blessing to me when you are all alone. Thank the good Lord you all keep up the good work. Please pray for me. God bless you all.

BAREFOOT BAY - I want to thank you again fo your wonderful radio station, keep up the good work. My husband is still with me, it was 2 years ago he was told he had terminal cancer and was not expected to love 6 months. The Good Lord has been and is with us.

PALM BAY - I have been listening to your station for four and one half years, since I moved to Palm Bay. It has been a blessing and comfort to me when I start to feel sorry for myself. I always learn something from the Words of God, or a comment, or a song to remind me of God,s love for me. You are doing a wonderful job, God bless you all.

MERRITT ISLAND - The station has given me a very good understanding of what Jesus would like me to do for I am a new Believer and I truly love what Christ has done in my life. Thank you very much for being there to share the Word of Jesus.

TITUSVILLE - Dear friends at WCIF, enclosed is the remainder of my pledge for ,98. I am sorry that I wasn,t able to send it in before the Sharathon this year, but it wasn,t possible. I will continue to send money when I can because I really believe in what you are doing and I am blessed daily by your programs. I always keep my car radio tuned to WCIF and hadn,t thought about it until one night when my son, his children and a friend were in the car with me. I was listening to Chuck Swindoll and my granddaughter was telling what kind of music everyone liked , when she got to me she said, "Grandma just likes God, she listens to it all the timeo/oo. I think that says a lot for WCIF when the children think of it as God,s station.

MELBOURNE - Hi, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated the special program on the National Day of Prayer. I was glad I tuned in with my husband and 2 children. I personally needed to be a participant that day. I usually don,t take time to write or call and say thank you for ministering to me and my family. I believe prayer has helped me become who I am today and I am passing this on to my children. My grandmother was a person of prayer and so is my mother. Thanks again for using the radio to unify the Body of Christ. Thanks for airing a lot of the programs that went on that day. May God richly bless your ministry.

MERRITT ISLAND -I have been listening to WCIF for 13 years but have never been able to pick up the signal inside my house. The signal was strong on the patio and, of course, in my car but no signal at all in the house. Last week I had to reset my clock radio due to a power outage and dial in a radio station, and I found WCIF. You cannot imagine my surprise and joy. I now get to wake up to Christian music. I also get to listen to James Dobson and Charles Stanley in the evenings. This is so great!
