Now driving in Mexico is really an adventure. Actually, riding with someone who's driving is an adventure! |
I was with our director of Latin American outreach a couple of weeks ago and he was very skillfully and amazingly navigating the challenges of the traffic in his city. It didn't really bother me much, I just took a sedative - no not really - but David's little boy Isaac was in the back seat and at one point our back seat helper reminded Daddy that he was supposed to be getting in the lane for an upcoming tunnel! It took a little doing, but David managed to get over there somehow, at which point Isaac had a word for his father. This little voice said from the back seat, "Good job Daddy!" Well, actually Isaac says that pretty often, he likes what his father does, and he tells him.
Now little Isaac has an attitude toward his father that we would do well to have with ours. Colossians 3:15 says, "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts," boy, you'd like that, wouldn't you?, "since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God." Now, we've got one "be thankful", we've got two "gratitude in your hearts to God." Here's verse 17, "and whatever you do, whether in word or deed do it all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks," three times, "to God the Father through Him." In other words the message is clear, do everything you do with an attitude of gratitude towards your Father.
First of all, it should never cease to amaze us that we've been invited to call the Sovereign of the Universe Father in the first place. Galatians 4:6 shows us that we're now God's children learning to call Him Abba Father. That's the affectionate, childlike name for your Father like Daddy is today. Now, the question is, how often during each day do you stop and say, "Good job Father, Abba Father"? It's a whole revolutionizing outlook on life, looking consciously for the things in that day for which you can thank God on which you can in a sense compliment your Heavenly Father. "You sent me someone to encourage me Father, good job!" Or, "Look at those clouds, man, you're an incredible artist Lord!" Or, "you've kept this car running for so long, I just wanted you to know that I noticed, Father. Thanks!" Or, "Thanks for this idea, Lord". Or "Thanks for this extra money," "thanks for that verse You brought to my attention today! It's just what I needed." Well, you get the idea. It's a mind set that expects your loving Father to show His love in dozens of different ways today, that goes through the day looking for His fingerprints in the days event, that compliments Him often on His grace in action in your life, like aiming a camera at part of the scene that you want to record. You decide at the beginning of your day to focus on your Father's blessings. And when you become a Father watcher like little Isaac you start to come out of the complaining business, the self-pity approach, the victim mind set, and you begin to experience a new kind of peace, contentment and joy. Like that wife I read about. She and her husband were unpacking their humble possessions in a new little dwelling place. He said, "Maybe someday we'll have money, and be rich." And she said, "honey, we don't have money but we're already rich." You see that's the viewpoint of someone who is looking for the blessing of God in their day.
When little Isaac compliments his father on how he does things, I could tell that Dad's heart was really warmed. I think your Heavenly Father things the same way when you notice all He's doing for you. And many times a day you echo a little boy's admiration, "Good job Daddy!"

INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH - Thank you WCIF. May God continue to bless each and every one of you richly as you bless each of us with a most helpful variety of inspirational programs that praise our Lord, encourage spiritual growth and share how best to apply that insight for the betterment of our lives and the lives of those around us. Your gift of faithful sharing has meant a lot to me. I will keep you in my prayers.
SEBASTIAN - I missed the Sharathon so I am sending the enclosed check for $. WCIF is an important part of my life as I listen at home and in the car. Continued blessings.
BAREFOOT BAY - Even though I never renew my pledge during your Sharathon, I continue my pledge made a number of years ago, and consider it, along with my home church offering, to be a commitment to be kept. Your programs are a part of my daily life, and I pray that your witness in this community will continue to bless and teach Christians whether they are babes or in-depth Christians. May your word bear fruit in unbelievers as you put forth the Word in a dying world.
WEST MELBOURNE - Thank you very much for your wonderful station, I listen all the day. Please find enclosed check as a part of our Sharathon pledge. May the Lord bless all of you as you give out the "Good News". Because He lives,
PALM BAY - Dear Friends, As usual here I am again thanking you for keeping the station going. The programs are a blessing to me. Sorry I can't send more but I pledge to send what little I can afford. Thank you all and God bless.
PALM BAY - Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not all His benefits, Bless all at WCIF and I pray this year will be a blessing. Saints and sinners will come to know my Jesus for He is a very present help in all times of trouble. We can trust and depend on Him. So continue the good Word for we surely depend on WCIF in the still watches of the night, wondering what I would do if I didn't have a good God to trust and call on. I pray God will continue His blessing on all at WCIF.
MELBOURNE - Enclosed is what I promised during the Sharathon, but you're worth much more than that. I'll try to send more as the Lord blesses me through the year. Your programs and the music you present are a great inspiration, comfort and joy in my life and to my spirit. I usually always have you on while I'm in the car. The best thing WCIF does for me, however, is to wake me up in the morning at 5:30. I listen to the wisdom of Mike Kellogg, then Jack comes on to urge me out of bed. I enjoy Steve Brown's Bible insights and candid comments, and finally, my good neighbor Mel Johnson sends me off to work with a few points to ponder. Before reaching my office, Mary Whelchel shares her views as a working woman and I'm ready to begin! Thanks.
MELBOURNE - I do enjoy, so much, your radio station - everything, but especially the Sunday afternoon music and late evening music programs. I usually listen until I fall asleep around midnight with comforting thoughts and lovely sacred music. Many thanks to all of you - your work for God and His kingdom.
MELBOURNE - Dear Friends, Enclosed is my contribution for 3 months. I will be leaving soon to go North. I will miss hearing WCIF. I pray all will continue for you in sending out the Word. I will look forward to hearing you on my return. May God continue to bless you all.
WEST MELBOURNE - Thanks so much for the opportunity to share in a marvelous ministry! We have lived in the Melbourne area for a little over four years. I have been a faithful listener of WCIF for a little over three of those years. . . I always have the car radio tuned to WCIF and listen to it on the way to and from work and whenever in the car running errands. At home our stereo and the radios in our bedroom and my study are tuned to WCIF, and we listen to it as often as Satan does not distract us with worldly endeavors. All in my household have accepted Christ as personal Saviour and Lord, praise be to God! We do not always serve Him and honor His Lordship as we should and we are so thankful for WCIF which provides us with a continuous beacon of Light to God and His Son . . . I would like to have more direction in my life and daily struggle with my walk with the Lord. I constantly stumble and often fall down spiritually. The programs on WCIF are a helping friend that often picks me up, dusts me off and gives me an encouraging pat on the back to continue on! Enclosed, please find my pledge.
INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH - You talk to me so much it hardly seems right to send this check without a word or two to you. Thanks for waking me up so beautifully each morning, for keeping me updated and encouraged while getting ready for work. Then, whenever I'm driving, there you are in the car keeping me company and blessed. Thanks for being there.
MELBOURNE - Praise the Lord for WCIF. The encouragement and enjoyment I get from the programs on this station is more than mere words can describe. I pray for all you to be blessed daily for a wonderful job done. You reach so many souls with music and teaching. Thank you!! Love in Christ.
PALM BAY - Enclosed you will find my pledge for April and May. I wanted to express my gratitude for your radio ministry. I praise God for your minis- try, and pray for it daily. I believe the Holy Spirit is using your radio station to change lives, and win souls for Jesus Christ here in Brevard County. Re- cently I was traveling to the northeastern U.S. During the trip I tuned to several Christian radio stations, some from Phila- delphia, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. I was shocked when I heard secular commercials on those stations. You see based on listening to WCIF, I assumed all Christian radio stations were commercial free. That obviously is not the case. I realize even more, the blessing WCIF is to this community. It speaks well that this radio ministry has carried on based on faith pledges. It testifies to the Faith, and strong belief of the managers and staff of WCIF, as well as, the faith and belief of your listeners. This is especially true when I considered that Christian radio stations in larger 'radio markets' could not sustain their operating cost without cashing in on commercial advertising sales. I don't mean to con- demn them, but my point is to Praise God for all that WCIF does. Please accept my donation in the Name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
MELBOURNE - Enclosed is my second payment of three for God's work. Please change my address . . . May God richly bless your ministry. Your music is my sanity in a rapidly deteriorating world.
PALM BAY - We love you all at WCIF and pray for you daily, my
husband and I. Please pray for him as he undergoes test for his heart.
