SHARATHON - March 12, 13, and 14

PLEASE PRAY for these important days. March 12 will be a Day of Prayer and Praise!

FROM THE MANAGER

In just a few short days we will enter into a very important part of WCIF's ministry. We stop what we are doing and focus our efforts on the coming year. For three days we retreat as it were, take stock of where we are and prepare to go into our twenty-second year with God's blessing.

That is what our SHARATHON has come to mean. We ask you our listeners to share in the entire process. The first day is especially important since it is the time we set aside to just thank God for what He has done for and through WCIF. We will be asking for words of encouragement from anyone who has been encouraged because of something they heard on WCIF. This is not so much for our benefit but as a way of thanking God for this special spot on the dial. It will also be used I'm sure to encourage others to stand with us financially. There is nothing quite like hearing a first hand report from someone who has been comforted, inspired or challenged as God spoke to them through the music and speakers. 

Our second and third days are important for the future of WCIF. In those two days we ask our listeners to give us the boost we need to go on into the next year by becoming financial partners with us. This is the only time during the year that we ask for this type of commitment. I'm sure you can see they are important days. It is our prayer that everyone will stay tuned in and cheer others on as they check in with their pledges. But we pray that you'll only become a spectator after you have taken part and called in your pledge. We really do rely on your generosity.

This is the way God has indicated we should go and we are fine with that. We trust that God will supply through His people.

Our goal this coming year is to reach and go beyond what we did last year. That goal of $220,000 should be easy if all of us do what we can. A Day Sponsorship will be $625 which works out to $52 per month. Our volunteers are looking forward with the usual excitement, the Share team is preparing for their trip to Melbourne, and our staff is preparing everything so you can join with the excitement, too. Everything we do will be of no use if we neglect to help you get involved.

Please take a stand with us and help our community see we are all serious about having a spot where they can find spiritual help and inspiration. As usual, you are the key to our success in going over the top. Will you take a few minutes and check in during SHARATHON?

Todd and Neil both return to join us once again for Sharathon. John is the new General Manager of ShareMedia. His past experiences in radio include managing a station in Port Huron, Michigan, program director and on air host of all-sports stations in Bay City, Michigan and Flint, Michigan. John says of this time in his life, "I got to meet and work with some of the finest athletes in the world, including many Christian men. My favorite job was the Luther Elliss Show, with all-pro, Detroit Lion defensive tackle Luther Elliss. Each week Luther would share his faith in Christ while talking
football." John has a ten year old daughter Ashlee.

Todd is co-founder of ShareMedia and continues to conduct Sharathons all
over the U.S. 

Neil is Director of Programming and Promotion for
Northwestern College Radio Network.

WCIF SPONSORS RECEPTION FOR NATIONAL BIKE RIDE FOR THE FAMILY

WCIF was proud to sponsor the official finish line reception for the Focus on the Family National Bike Ride for the Family. The reception was held on February 18 at First Baptist Church of Cocoa Beach, whose congregation graciously offered support of the event. A total of 25 cyclists, some from as far away as California, pedaled about 200 miles from Gainesville to Cocoa Beach over the course of three days. Among the bikers was Ryan Dobson, son of Focus on the Family founder Dr. James Dobson. Special Thanks to Pastor Ken Babington who helped grill hamburgers and hot dogs for the group.

Wayne Watson concert set for March - In what will be the first of many concerts WCIF and First Baptist of Melbourne are co-sponsoring a concert featuring Wayne Watson March 15, right after SHARATHON. Now that we are in our new facilities we have enough seating to host a major concert. Our plans are to host at least four a year and draw from a variety of artists and musical tastes. Through the sale of tickets we want this to become a self-supporting part of our community outreach. Should you have any suggestions to help us find the right artists please be in touch.

You have opportunity to hear Wayne on WCIF. You could expect that since he has been in music ministry for 20 years, has 15 albums to his credit and won a number of Dove awards during that time. Wayne is a songwriter whose love for the Lord and his family becomes very evident. His music acknowledges God's wonderful gifts to him and his joy in being alive. He recognizes that writing something catchy isn't enough. Music must be full of truth so it doesn't "date" itself.

The dates for SHARATHON are Monday - Wednesday, March 12,13,and 14. The Thursday following will be our night with Wayne Watson. Tickets will be available mainly through the Christian bookstores across our listening area and at First Baptist Melbourne. To this point tickets will be available at :
