    Entrusted with the Gospel
    Lee J. Martinez
Lee Martinez WCIF will celebrate seventeen years of broadcasting on March 10! The time has flown. If you've ever had occasion to review your own past you know what I mean about the time going too quickly.
In my own case, as my daughters have all come of age and left home I've had to do a reality check. Could we really have had the blessing of a house full for at least 18 years? Where did the time go and what were the key features of the time we've had together? More importantly, were each of them made ready for life in the time God ave us to prepare them?

It's been a few years since each of them has gone out on their own and have faced their challenges in ways which have made Joann and I proud. They have always had our love and a great measure of respect. Each has now earned our respect as adults. They have grown and developed their own faith and walk with the Lord. There have even been precious additions (as you know if you read this column regularly) to our family and we're looking forward to the future.

To a great extent the ministry of WClF is like having an extended family. In the fourteen years I have been here I have had to ask, "What has been accomplished which has value?" The time has gone quickly because it has been an enjoyable time. Working and interacting with the people who surround this ministry is great. But there has been far more benefit than that. WClF has made and is making an impact in our community. In the Christmas classic "It's a Wonderful Life", we are treated to a look at life in two ways. We see the impact of a person's life and we also see what might have been without that good person in the picture. Let's use that approach for a moment with this radio ministry.

We can focus on what is being done as a result of having this opportunity. WClF has always been committed to representing the Word of God in a sound and understandable way. Our programmers are selected for their adherence to the Word and their ability to keep their teaching understandable. We have reviewed what is available and emphasized the best in our community. Anyone who takes the time to listen receives knowledge enough to pass a Bible college course. And if the response is right, the student will realize the greatness of God and enter into a closer relationship with the Lord. That is the key purpose.

Another benefit of having WClF is having a place on the dial where anyone can come to be refreshed. In an age where everyone wants to be in your face so they can get your attention, we would prefer to come alongside our audience and as companions, share the refreshing inspiring thoughts available in God's Word. We choose to offer a cup of cold water to anyone who has the need. It is always a thrill for me to hear of those who listen even though they don't yet believe. They need the peace of God too. They need a place where they can think on the "good things". This truly is "an Oasis in a Desert of Sound".

In today's world, news seems to be taking on even more importance than it has in the past. An informed public is difficult to deceive. Yet more and more we find our major news sources being used for propaganda. The idea of being "politically correct" is being taught more from our information sources than from anywhere else. Here at WCIF we are able to provide information which is being censored from mainstream America but is vital for its existence. Through God's grace we still have access to information which affects the family, our personal rights and perverse agendas which require action. This information is passed on to our listeners in a timely fashion so they can dedde what their response should be.

WClF has its unique qualities because we have decided to let the Lord lead and provide what we feel He wants His people to have available to them. Through WClF our community is learning of God's love and His relevance to their everyday life. Our goal has been to stay clear of the fads and frivolous but always portray the joy of the Lord in an appealing way. Our audience continues to grow, spiritually and in numbers.

Seventeen years is not enough. The need continues. With your help we will continue to provide and improve. With that in mind I would ask you to take part in our annual SHARATHON. During the three days, March 3, 4, and 5, we will be asking our listeners to pledge their support for year eighteen. As usual Mel Johnson, Todd Isberner and Neil Stavem will join the staff in bringing about a successful campaign. We can succeed if you participate. I hope you are praying about your involvement. We've come this far only by God's grace and the participation of His people, our listeners. Join the effort. We want you to enjoy this aspect of Christian radio and come away feeling that you make a difference because you do. (1 Thes 2:4).

    Letters

MELBOURNE BEACH - Thanks for your excellent programs and music. You do a great job and your station has been a blessing in my life. My car radio landed on your channel "by chance" and I've been a loyal listener ever since! Hope this small gift helps your ministry.

MELBOURNE - I've enjoyed your station for 2 1/2 years - since my "Christian birthday" 2nd Cor. 5:17. Thank you for giving what no other radio station comes close to offering. Keep up the good work. I promise to listen to you daily as I press toward the mark for the prize of the High Calling of God. Best wishes for a joyous holiday season as we worship His birth and His calling. Thank you again, A faithful listener, an effective doer.

WEST MELBOURNE - Just wanted to thank you for "The music of Christmas". The songs interspersed with the Word and testimonies really bring the true meaning of Christmas alive. We are sure many will find their way to Christ and salvation as they listen. This is our prayer. God bless you and your beautiful ministry.

MELBOURNE - Happy New Year to everyone at WClF. May God continue to bless you all. Your music keeps me focused on our Lord. I've seen so many prayers answered this year past. God is so faithful if we will just be obedient and keep the faith. Thank you all for being there for me whenever I turn on. Love in Christ.

BAREFOOT BAY - Please do not send a thank you card or any literature. I just want to thank you for your radio station and I hope this check helps a little.

PALM BAY - I am so sorry that I didn't send my pledge money in December. I am enclosing December and January today. I really found the programming to be exceptional during the holiday season. It was inspiring and uplifting. Thank you for making all my days special by having Christian radio available to me.

ROCKLEDGE - The Christmas music was wonderful this season. We appreciate our Christian radio station so much. Thank you.

MELBOURNE - Thanks for ministering to my heart. As far as I am concerned your station is the best there is! My heart feels so much better while listening to your programs and your newsletters are precious to me. If possible send me a few of your bumper stickers. I will send you some money as soon as I can. If you went off the air - the radio - I would miss you a lot. All of you are some of my precious brothers and sisters in Christ. Keep mailing me your newsletters.

MELBOURNE - Blessings on your ministry. In His name Phil. 4:6 & 7

PALM BAY - May the Lord bless you all for your ministry. I know that it is late to say thank you for the calendar that you sent me in December but it is better late than never. Please accept my $.

MELBOURNE - Dear Friends in Christ, thank you for your continuing broadcasting. There are so many programs of worship and music that we can enjoy and listen to their teachings. Enclosed is my donation toward helping you to continue. May the Lord bless you all.

MELBOURNE - Dear Friends at WCIF radio, we received our calendar. Thank you. We have many problems since we were here last year. But God is faithful, hears and answers prayers. We did not cease to pray for you often while away this past summer, but through it all God has been with us, we thank you for the letter June 9 and prayers. We did appreciate everyone's prayers and God is with us. We were not sure that we could come to Fla. this fall, but though it was late here we are, and need your prayers right on. Thank you. I still say WCIF is the best thing Melbourne has. 24 hour Christian radio. Thank God for all the news of Jesus going out to this city and farther. God bless and keep you on the air until Jesus comes again. I enjoy the radio on all day and mostly in the morning when I wake up first thing I do is turn my portable radio on and listen I miss it when the station is off. Thanks for everything.

WEST MELBOURNE - My husband and I greatly enjoy all of your programs and continually listen to your station. We can't thank you enough for the efforts of all who work with and for you for bringing such uplifting radio to everyone who is fortunate enough to be "tuned in" to your good news every day. ...again, we would like to express our deep appreciation for your broadcasts throughout the day. It sure makes the work day SO much more bearable!!!

VERO BEACH - Hi! all you hard working volunteers. Hope you do real well with your fund raiser. I wish I could get up to Melbourne and help, but I am 80 years old and don't like to drive to places where I don't know the area.

MELBOURNE - Thank you for your love and support. I'm praying for our station.

ROCKLEDGE - Thank you so much for the lovely calendar. We have enjoyed WCIF for years. Thank goodness for Christian programming. Blessings.

CAPE CANAVERAL Thank you WCIF radio tor being there. Like others I keep my home radio and car radio on your station at all times and although I'm only here for six months I feel it a privilege to help sponsor you all year. Praying that others will tune in and come to Christ.

INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH - First I'd like to thank all of you for your support an prayers during this difficult time in my life. I pray every day for the station and all its staff. You all will be placed in our Prayer Room (1st Baptist of Indialantic) You all are uplifted to the Lord daily in prayer. Bless each one of you.

PALM BAY - Please accept this check for the Sharathon. I appreciate your radio station. I especially appreciated being able to receive from near Orlando as I was alone for the first trip since my husband passed away. It made driving so much easier. Thank you, in Christian love.
