  • About the Manager
    Lee J. Martinez
Lee Martinez Several years ago a young airman named Lee Martinez from Wyoming transferred to an air base in New Jersey. He had been reared in a church since a young child, but had never experienced a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. God places people in our path sometimes to change the direction in which we are moving.
A young lady named Joanna became acquainted with Lee and they married. Through friendships with men in Joanna's church he was invited to a Jack Van Impe crusade in 1968. It was there that he invited Jesus into his heart. Lee became comfortable with the pastor of Joanna's church and a very personal friendship developed. The pastor discipled Lee and as Paul Harvey says, "you know the rest of the story".

Lee began studying the Word very diligently and while searching through the Scriptures for the truth in his life, God placed a burden on his heart to become invol- ved in Christian Radio. He surrendered to the Lord and with much prayer, left his position at a Philadelphia ship- yard and headed to Moody Bible Insitute in Chi-cago. Armed with faith in God, he was later able to bring his wife Joanna and their three girls to be with him in Chicago. Many of us I am sure would have said, "God, why me?" Lee was committed and believed that God would meet their needs. Not what they wanted, but what they needed to sustain them.

WCIF was about three years new and in search of a new station manager. Lee at that time was managing a station in Atlanta. He responded to the need with his resume, was called in for an interview and soon thereafter was made an offer. That was fifteen years ago. During these past fifteen years, WCIF, under the leadership of Lee has witnessed tremendous response from a listening audience reaching most of Brevard County and parts of surrounding counties. God can make a way but he desires to accomplish his mission through willing servants. Lee has been a willing servant. He has provided spiritual guidance to thousands of listeners by being selective in the programming and music that is aired over WCIF.

Lee has an excellent working relationship with local pastors and their churches. People from this entire listening audience have supported WCIF beyond measure. Lee, through a faith and trust in a living God and by creating harmony among his entire staff and volunteers, has been able to accomplish a task that many thought impossible. We believe that God has His hand on Lee. We believe that he loves his fellowman and those who so faithfully and dutifully perform the many tasks that occur during a twenty-four hour day at WCIF.

Lee, we encourage you, we pray for you and we lift you up as you direct the operation of one of the greatest ministries in Brevard and surrounding counties. Many hurting and lost souls are being touched, healed and saved through this God- anointed ministry. We enjoy working with you and we sometimes agree to disagree but we are all of a human nature and if our hearts are right, God can create a winner. Thank you for your faithfulness and the stability in the entire operation of WCIF. We look forward to many more years of your Christian service via the air waves of WCIF. May God bless you and your family in a mighty way.

    In Christian Love,

    WCIF Radio Council

    Prayer
Without a doubt, prayer is a mother's best haven. It is the safe place to which we retreat when we need to receive patience - and to ask for help, sustenance, and direction when our maternal influence appears to be ineffective. Incessantly interceding for our daughter in prayer is a uniquely Christian privilege, a responsibility that bears fruit in season, producing a timely harvest that also benefits future generations. "I thought I knew how to pray, until my daughter reached adolescence and proved to me that there were vast regions of unexplored territory left to discover!" exclaimed my friend Cynthia. "I don't think I had ever prayed that much in my life. There were so many things I was anxious about, both real and imagined: school success, extracurricular activities, driving hazards, dating issues, disagreements about appropriate attire, the onset of PMS. . . When hovering over Meg's shoulder was no longer possible, I realized how much I needed to depend on God to protect and guide my daughter. Through prayer, I find peace - and recover my sense of sanity in the process."

When we know that we have no real ability to control a particular problem or situation, prayer becomes our most important means of action. Here is a quick scriptural summary of why-and how-prayer works on our behalf in this regard:

Prayer delivers protection from harm. Therefore let every- one who is godly pray to You while You may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach Him (Psalm 32:6).

Prayer lightens the load. To the Lord I cry aloud, and He answers me from His holy hill (Psalm 3:4).

Prayer partners with thanksgiving. Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus (I Thessalonians 5:16-18).

Prayer brings wisdom. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him (James 1:5).

Prayer promotes peace. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus ( Philippians 4:6-7).

Prayer puts our love for others into action. And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ - to the glory and praise of God (Philippians 1:9-11).

Prayer defeats the opposition. Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying. (Ephesians 6:18).

Prayer builds the spiritual strength of Christ's followers. We have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light (Colossians 1:9-12).

Prayer goes where we cannot go and does what we cannot do. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will (Romans 8:26-27).

Prayer recognizes who is in control. I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer (Psalm 17:6).

"Prayer does not fit us for the greater works; prayer is the greater work," Oswald Cham- bers reminded us. In practical terms, this means making prayer a top priority in our relationship with our daughters - as much a part of our responsibility to them as fixing their food, buying them clothing, getting good family medical care, providing sound discipline, and super- vising their schooling.

When my daughters were young, I remember being especially exas- perated by their ongoing sibling rivalry, which at times flared up in spite of every parenting skill and disciplinary measure I used to quench it. Nothing I did - and I did plenty - seemed to make a difference for very long. Time and again, their colorfully clashing personalities and opposing temperaments sparked the latest Dispute of the Day, resulting in yet another round of hurt feelings on both sides. For years, I prayed that one day the girls would become good friends regardless of their surprisingly substantial differences. Though it appeared as if this were unlikely to happen, it finally did. Sometime during late adolescence, Joanna and Katherine declared a truce. The war was over. And though the peace is occasionally tested and may temporarily become a bit tenuous, I am happy to report that what once appeared to an anguished mother of preschoolers as only a desirable dream is now, years later, a much-prayed-for-reality.

As we grow in the experience of mothering our daughters, we increasingly learn that prayer accomplished the things we cannot carry out in ourselves-or in others. Through prayer, we find the strength to be quiet as we wait for the answers only God can give.

    Letters

SEBASTIAN - Enclosed please find our check for this month of April. We are sorry to advise you that this will be our last one. We are permanently leaving Florida. . . We thank God that for these many years we have been spiritually uplifted by the wonderful messages in word and song broadcast by your station. We wish you continued God's blessings in reaching thousands in this area.

VERO BEACH - Here's my pledge money! Thanks for letting me help.

VERO BEACH - The reception is so much better.

INDIAN HARBOR BEACH - Thank you for the tape "Heaven".

PALM BAY - May the Lord richly bless you at all times. WCIF is a tremendous source of joy and learning to me, and to all who love to hear the things of God. This great Christian radio station also helps us to stay steadfast in our walk with Christ by being on the air at all times, night and day. Enclosed is a small donation of $.

MELBOURNE - Thank you for being there daily. I love your station, it keeps me closer to our Lord.

MELBOURNE - Praise the Lord! Keep up the tremendous sharing of God's word. Here is the first installment of my pledge. The Lord does provide.

SEBASTIAN - How thankful I am for good reception daily, even at 3 a.m. What a blessing. Thank you for your faithfulness.

INDIAN HARBOR BEACH - Thank you very much for the books and tape. Keep up the good work, God bless.

PALM BAY - Much thanks for the cassette tape. May the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ bless your radio station in bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Melbourne, Palm Bay, and Vero Beach. I wish we could take our minds off politicians and Washington. The Lord Jesus gave one command to those who know Him, go tell others about Him so that they can know Him. Some who call themselves Christians act just like the Pharisees in Jesus' time. We seem to forget who is in charge.

PALM BAY - I enjoyed the days of Sharathon and as always I continue to enjoy listening to WCIF's programs. Enclosed is my offering. Thanks for the tape "Heaven" Listening to Dr. Stowell, Dr. Evans, and all the other narrators, including the children, was a blessing to me and my family. We'll surely pass it around to others. God bless you all.

SEBASTIAN - Praise God for the support that you received during the telethon. God is good, all the time! Enclosed is my check for $ as my first month's pledge. Also enclosed is the mailing address that needs correction. . . Thank you for the "Heaven" tape.

MELBOURNE - I am sending my pledge I made during Sharathon. I wish I could equal the comfort and joy that I receive from your station. I am thankful you are there.

WEST MELBOURNE - I made a $ pledge - but when I'm able I'll send more. Your station has been a real blessing to me!

INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH - Enclosing $50 extra to reach that goal!

MELBOURNE - We in Melbourne are so blessed to have a Christian radio station to listen to all day. Thank you for all your hard work. It is great!

SATELLITE BEACH - My family and I want to let you know what a blessing the ministry of WCIF is to us. From Focus on the Family that blesses my wife and I, to Adventures in Odyssey which our 7-year old loves to listen to (my wife, too!). Our prayer for you is that God will continue to bless your inspirational and devotional ministry to the body of Christ as well as draw those first time listeners and especially unbelievers to His saving grace. Keep up the great work!

MERRITT ISLAND - Thank you so much for hosting the breakfast for the area pastors and wives . . We enjoyed the opportunity to visit with colleagues and to enjoy the breakfast and speaker. ! Your radio station is the one our congregation talks about and listens to often. Thank you for your interest in the area churches!

MELBOURNE - Thank you so much for the "Heaven" Moody tape. You give me daily for 24 hours gifts at my finger tips. We are so blessed in your broadcasting area to have WCIF. I pray for your continued success.

SATELLITE BEACH - What a delightful surprise arriving in our home today. Please accept our sincerest appreciation for the exciting tape "Heaven". Not only will we enjoy (already have) this marvelous tape. We will be mailing it to our daughter in West Virginia for their enjoyment. It is a wonderful tape and we thank you for your remembrance. I have always loved and been grateful for WCIF. It is a station that certainly meets the needs of Christians and those seeking Christ. May God's blessings continue to meet your needs and the miracle of reaching those who need Christ.

PALM BAY- Really, really appreciated WCIF. We were out of state - no Christian radio. Glad to be back here in Palm Bay and your station.
