FROM THE MANAGER

What is your favorite time to listen to WCIF and why do you especially like to tune in at that time?  It is probably that you have discovered something in the music or the teaching programs at that particular time that help carry you through the day.  Like a morning cup of coffee or a brisk walk, it helps give your day a different focus.  You feel like you miss something  if you change your routine.

Speaking of routine. I'd like to challenge you to change yours in a positive way.  I challenge you to increase your listening time.  I know your time is precious and it is hard to take more time for yourself but you may be missing a very special nugget set out for you at a different time of  the day.  That happened to me recently as I listened to Ron Hutchcraft on 'A Word With You'.  It's not easy for me to be listening at that time of the afternoon but I was able to stop long enough to hear his 5-minutes of encouragement.  He gave an illustration about the great Mississippi River that God used as a springboard to increase my awareness of what He is doing in my life.  I would like to share it with you and it may not resemble what Ron said because God had other things to say to me using that same illustration.

For most of its journey the Mississippi can  only be crossed at certain points.  It is so wide and so powerful that great effort has to be made to pass over it.  But at its head water the place where it is only a stream or perhaps a trickle it is easy to cross and difficult to see the potential of miles of travel and the gathering of millions of gallons of water from tributaries. What is the potential of your Christian walk from the meager weak  beginnings we all face?  Might we have the potential similar to that which God has ordained for a river?  Could we bless and benefit others from a small beginning?  God expects us to develop and grow. You can see how this illustration fits our anticipated growth spoken of in 2 Peter 1:3-11.

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life
and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory
and goodness.  4 Through these He has given us His very great and precious
promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and
escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness;
and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to
self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to
godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if
you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from
being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus
Christ. 9 But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind,
and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.
10 Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and
election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, 11 and you
will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.
As goodness is added to your faith and knowledge builds on both and self-control begins to make us strong over time each characteristic makes us stronger and more recognizable as one of God's own, developing in the image of Christ.  God is not finished with us and expects greater things that He will develop in us if we stay opened to Him and as close to Him as we can get.  That is encouragement straight from His Word.  Well that's why I say you should try to spend more time with Him by tuning in more often.  You need to know God's principles by studying them and applying them.  We are here to help you get over your hurdles and provide a place of peace and inspiration.

As we enter a season of thanksgiving, start early to praise God for blessings that only come because He sends them.  Everything fits that category, including your opportunity to tune in to WCIF.  I'm thankful for you and hope we are in your life enough for you to be thankful for us.

GIVING

In your giving please remember the needs of the station.  We have a number of added expenses as the year comes to an end and our only means of meeting these obligations is by coming to you and asking you to be generous.  Will you keep us in your prayers and send a little extra these next few months?  You know what we stand for and that we are very careful with what you send so it will go as far as possible.  The programs you enjoy most are available because we are their avenue to you.

Habitat for Humanity of South Brevard
  Care-A-Thon 2003
On behalf of Habitat for Humanity of South Brevard I would like to thank those who helped move a family toward their own home.  Our one-day campaign for Habitat saw pledges of over  $22,000 made with nearly 30 churches represented in over 20 communities.  The "Church" came together to say they care and want to work together for the good of those who have a need.  Thank you for moving this family closer to something they could only dream about before.  - Lee
