    From the Manager
    Lee Martinez
Lee Martinez, Station Manager Tony Evans has a much quoted statement which stems from chapter 5 of Joshua. In that chapter Joshua meets a man with his sword drawn. The children of Israel are about to go up against Jericho and Joshua asks this person, "are you for us or for our adversaries?" (Joshua 5:13).
Joshua was aware of his circumstances and everything revolved around the next major event in the path of his people. Surely this armed man was conscious of the coming conflict and had come to add his support to one cause or the other. Small self-centered thinking would make anyone ask "whose side are you on?" The unexpected answer turned the question around. "Neither", he replied, "but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." (Josh 5:14). Tony reminds us that when the Lord comes He does not come to take sides but to take over. His plan is supreme and it's humbling to know He will give us a choice, "whose side are you on?"

The next major event in the life of our people is the God-given privilege of electing leaders for the next term. Within such a civilized process you would not expect there would be a need to be very cautious. Both major candidates present themselves and their parties in a good light. To many there doesn't seem to be a great deal of distinction between candidates other than who will make us the most comfortable throughout their term or if we become sick and have to rely on some sort of government program. Whom shall it be, a Democrat or a Republican? Is God for the Democrats or Republicans? Once again it needs to be said God is not here to take sides but to take over.

What does that mean in this month when we choose our leaders and thus our course for the next four years? Does God have any qualifications we should look for before we make a leader? Is He interested in how we vote and why we select the person we do? The answer to both questions is yes. When we ask for God's direction and protection and He gives us a voice in our government, of course He wants us to take counsel from Him. The names of our current candidates don't appear in scripture as appointed for this time but we are able to line up such things as character and moral standards with what is approved by God.

This is what has me concerned. I hear more people talking about who will make them more comfortable for the next four years than I do about candidates who qualify on moral grounds. Neither party nor their candidates are perfect but both parties have informed us of where they will take the country. They have done so by publishing their platforms and by approving representatives, brought before the people as examples of their philosophy. You don't have to dig too deeply to see that our candidates are on opposite ends both in character and philosophy. A few years ago there would have been no question that one party and their nominee would have disqualified themselves by their lifestyle and views. And still there are some good people who are intent on voting for the one who looks best during the campaigning. This is not the time or place to show how tolerant we can be. We cannot tolerate what God says He will not sanction. God can begin the judgement process on our nation or show mercy by whom we set before Him to represent us as our leader.

I feel the elections are just that serious as we approach the 21st century. I trust that we will have a great deal to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, not just for what God has given in the past or present but in our future on this earth, and in this nation.

    Letters

MERRITT ISLAND - I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how much I appreciate your radio station. In the hustle and bustle of the day, it's nice to be able to "take a breather" with some wonderful, peaceful Christian music. Although I do like some contemporary Christian artists, I find myself enjoying more the classic hymns and the 70's songs of the "Jesus Movement." Your programming gives variety coupled with the Good News from lots of GOOD people. I'd like to say which programs were my favorites, but it would take the rest of the page!! God bless you for the ministry you are providing to people of Brevard County!

ANONYMOUS - I just want to say a big thank you for your great music and the lovely songs and singing. The service on the radio has been a blessing to my soul, I listen to it 24 hours a day. I never turn off my radio in my bedroom and it has been my guide on the road to and from work. Without it I am lost. My husband and I moved down here one year ago now and up to now he is not working. I am the only one working so please pray for him to get a job. I can say the Lord has blessed me for He gives me strength to go on. I would like you to please pray for me. I thank God for you. My prayers for you is that God will continue to bless and keep and meet the needs of keeping up the radio station.

INDIAN HARBOR BEACH - October may be Pastor Appreciation month but I consider what you do each day a very important ministry. I know how much you have inspired me. Many thanks again for all you have done for me, especially being my friend.

MELBOURNE - What a tremendous blessing you provide for this community. My radio in the kitchen, bedroom and car are all tuned in for your spirit filled blessing. The super Bible teachings and other Christ centered programs are a constant blessing to mothers and bless us in this area. Your grateful listener.

PALM BAY . . . I cannot easily express the gratitude I have for WCIF, it is such a joy in my life. Thank you for being there and broadcasting Christian radio. My favorite program is "The Living Word" with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cole. I listen every Tuesday - Saturday at 12:40 A.M. on my drive home from work . . . For the record, I love WCIF and am proud to be a supporter. Thank you for being there and providing this ministry that is valuable to anybody who comes across your signal. I found you by accident myself, in October of l990 and have not turned you off.

WEST MELBOURNE - Enclosed is my pledge for Oct., Nov.,& Dec. I listen every day most all day long and enjoy all the programs and I have learned a lot from various ministries. My favorite is Insight for Living. Please keep it coming.

SATELLITE BEACH - Thanks again for the newsletter. I enjoy all the letters from the dear folks who write in, also thank you for keeping me informed of the greater opportunities. I am all for that. I love to see progress going on. The clock keeps ticking and I feel we don't have much time to work. I will indeed be praying and may everything turn out as you wish and great things will happen. God bless all of you.

PALM BAY - Here's our small pledge to help you continue with the great work you are doing. God is doing mighty things that you may not know about but He knows and He is our Rewarder. May He multiply this so that at least one soul will hear the good news and say yes to Jesus today. What a blessing you are to us. Thank you.

INDIAN HARBOR BEACH - Thank you so much for all the beautiful programs you have on your station. This past week, I've been truly sick and my radio is right beside my bed, and you all have been right beside me too, bringing the people to us that are speaking God's Words from the Holy Bible we love so dearly. The radio has some terrible things on it, as well as T.V. but I feel we don't need to see all the sinful things going on in our beautiful world. We can block it all out, with your station. I just praise you all, for giving so much to us that care. Thanks again, and God bless you all. A friend in Christ.

MERRITT ISLAND - Will you please send me a schedule of your programs. I enjoy the Christian station so much. Thank you and God bless.

SEBASTIAN - Please forgive the delay in writing. Due mainly to poor health. I thank God for your station. Keep up the good work. I do enjoy learning from Dr. & Mrs. Don Cole, and Dr. Chuck Swindoll, and Dr. Dobson and so many others. What a blessing to have Chris- tian radio in this area. Thank you and God bless.

PALM BAY - Once again I am saying thank you for your programs. The music and songs in the early a.m., I wish I could sing, so I will continue to listen and pray for you all.

MICCO - Thanks for being here. I appreciate your ministry - especially J. Vernon McGee and Larry Burkett.

MELBOURNE - I just want to say I listen to your station on the way to work in the morning and on the way home in the afternoon. Such a blessing to start the work day and to make the way home more pleasant in the afternoon. I just praise the Lord for the wonderful contact I have with Him through your station. God has really been at work in my life and especially on the job. The Battle is the Lord's!
