Is it possible that an individual could go to church, put some money in the collection plate occasionally, even belong to a church, and yet be lost?
Jesus, Himself, raised the grave issue as to whether a person can attend church, sing the songs, and can even be involved in areas of Christian service such as teaching Sunday school and yet not genuinely be headed for heaven at the end of Life's road. Jesus opened His heart and taught the people, and part of what He said relating to this important issue is found in Matthew 7.
Here's the text of what He said: "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord" will enter the kingdom of heaven. . ." Then Jesus got even more explicit, saying, "but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." Now here's the part that makes you sit straight up and take notice. "Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?" Than I will tell them plainly, "I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!" (Matthew 7:21-23). Those words, "I never knew you!" are shocking and sobering. Frankly, I have a growing concern for masses of men and women today who nominally go through the motions of a Christian experience, yet their lives seemingly are unaffected by what they believe. The bottom line is that their marriages are no different; their business dealings are unaffected; their language sounds much as the person's who says he doesn't buy into that God business. There is little that sets them apart indicating that God has touched their lives and they are His children.
If I had a friend whose blood pressure was going higher and higher every day, and I knew that this condition would ultimately end in death by a stroke, and I understood that taking an aspirin every day would eliminate the pro blem, and I kept my silence and said to myself, "health is a personal matter - it's between my friend and God, " I would not only ba poor friend, but I would also share blame in the death of that person. So it is, friend, with the individual who may have a fish on his car bumper, and his name on the membership roster of a church, who has a false security and doesn't really understand what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. What are the marks of a true Christian? Are there some identifying characteristics of such a person, some criteria which Jesus laid down by which I can measure my life and see if I really am headed for heaven or not? I believe that there are at last four: commitment, conversion, confession, and change. Let's ponder that first one - commitment.
Do you remember what Jesus said when he first called the disciples? He never gave them the carrot-and-stick approach such as, "If you join my church, you'll go to heaven, and if you don't you are headed for the hot spot!" No, He looked into the eyes of peple and said, "Follow me!" It was just that simple. And they followed Him from many walks of life. Farmers, fishermen, a tax-collector, ordinary laborers and businessmen comprised the motley drew who enrolled in His company for those three years when Jesus taught the multitude.
Their response to His call: COMMITMENT. They showed their colors and ran up their flag. Commitment means identification. When you have really been in His presence, He makes His mark on your life, and they, friend, is obvious to the world about us. Commitment is your response to His call.

Letters
BUCKHANNON,WV
Enclosed is our donation for the day sponsor for July in
memory of our grandson.
It has been 16 years since his tragic death and while we still mourn for
him at times we are also in awe of what God has done in our family since
that time.
We had a choice at that time. We could have been mad at God and blamed Him for letting the accident happen or we could turn to Him for comfort. Because some dear friends from our church reached out to us and prayed for us we chose to turn to God.
During the past 16 years you folks at WCIF have bee there for us too. You have provided soothing and worshipful music, God's message from many of the "preaching" programs and update information from such programs as Dr. Dobson and Larry Burkett.
Thank you for being there for us and please continue to "fight the good fight", and spread the Gospel in our community. May God richly bless all of the WCIF staff.
MELBOURNE Please find the enclosed check as a gift for the radio ministry. Thank you so much for your faithfulness in bringing so many Gospel teachers- they are favorites to me - especially Chuck Swindoll, Dr.McGee and John Mac Arthur daily and Pastor Larry Bazer on Sunday School at 9:30 am, always a blessing. Thank you.
LAKELAND - I appreciate your radio station so much while living there in your vicinity. May God continue to make you a blessing.
MELBOURNE - Your wonderful Christian radio station continues to bless our home and our lives as it rings out at our house day and night. Enclosed is our contribution for the month of July. Lord willing, another will follow in August. Thank you again for always being there for us to hear and to learn and be blessed.
MELBOURNE - You start my day with words and music to live by. God bless your ministry, and everyone involved. Keep up the good work.
WEST MELBOURNE - I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to follow through on my commitment to you. My work is either feast or famine, I've been in a little dry spell lately. Please accept my gift of double the amount I promised, I wish it could be more. WCIF is an important part of my life and I thank God for your faithfulness. You really do make a difference in peoples lives.
PALM BAY - Sorry I am so late to get in touch; but as they say better late than never. Thank you all for being there for me at home, in my car and at my workplace. God bless you all with the good work you do. Enclosed is my contribution, I will send in the other as soon as I can.
TITUSVILLE - Dear friends at WCIF, enclosed is the remainder of my pledge for ,98. I am sorry that I wasn,t able to send it in before the Sharathon this year, but it wasn,t possible. I will continue to send money when I can because I really believe in what you are doing and I am blessed daily by your programs. I always keep my car radio tuned to WCIF and hadn,t thought about it until one night when my son, his children and a friend were in the car with me. I was listening to Chuck Swindoll and my granddaughter was telling what kind of music everyone liked , when she got to me she said, "Grandma just likes God, she listens to it all the timeo/oo. I think that says a lot for WCIF when the children think of it as God,s station.
MELBOURNE - Hi, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated the special program on the National Day of Prayer. I was glad I tuned in with my husband and 2 children. I personally needed to be a participant that day. I usually don,t take time to write or call and say thank you for ministering to me and my family. I believe prayer has helped me become who I am today and I am passing this on to my children. My grandmother was a person of prayer and so is my mother. Thanks again for using the radio to unify the Body of Christ. Thanks for airing a lot of the programs that went on that day. May God richly bless your ministry.
MERRITT ISLAND -I have been listening to WCIF for 13 years but have never been able to pick up the signal inside my house. The signal was strong on the patio and, of course, in my car but no signal at all in the house. Last week I had to reset my clock radio due to a power outage and dial in a radio station, and I found WCIF. You cannot imagine my surprise and joy. I now get to wake up to Christian music. I also get to listen to James Dobson and Charles Stanley in the evenings. This is so great!
MELBOURNE Greetings from New England. Will be glad to return to WCIF and inspiring programs. This month's newsletter is special, I particularly like the Bible verses in large print and will cut them out and use them in the letters I write.Happy to hear how God is blessing your coming move.
MELBOURNE - To all at WCIF, thank you so much for the lovely music and spiritual help you give so many people. I wish I could listen more often.
BENSONVILLE, IL -I'm sorry, but I'll not be able to send any donations any more. Circumstances are changing. May God continue to bless your station and the Gospel continue to go forth saving souls. I'm thankful to have been able to contribute as long as I have.
